HOMER GLEN, IL ... What was supposed to be a standard sanctioned pig race at the famous Bengtson Pumpkin Farm Swine Speedsters derby turned into absolute glorious bedlam yesterday afternoon when a local family's pampered 65-pound pet potbelly pig slipped past security gatekeepers... entered the dirt track uninvited... and humiliated a field of seasoned professional racing swine.
Spectators packed wall-to-wall in the wooden grandstands watched in disbelief as five heavily trained racing pigs lined up at the starting gates. But just as the horn sounded, Barnaby Bacon ... a local pet pig belonging to the Miller family of Homer Glen ... trotted onto the track carrying nothing but a red bandana and an appetite for chaos.

As seasoned racing pig "Hog Wild Willy" took an early lead, Barnaby activated what witnesses can only describe as hyperdrive. Driven by the sight of a kid holding a funnel cake in the front row of the grandstands, the potbelly pulled off a unbelievable sprint down the final stretch... snatching 1st place by a full snout.
The grandstands erupted into wild cheers and standing ovations as event officials reluctantly presented Barnaby with the official 1st place championship ribbon and trophy. Derby organizers confirmed that while pet pigs are technically not registered in the official racing circuit... Barnaby's legendary sprint time has earned him a permanent invitation to defend his title next summer.
Following the historic win, Barnaby reportedly celebrated back home in Homer Glen with an extra belly rub, half a watermelon, and a well-deserved afternoon nap.
