AREA CAT FOUND GUILTY OF CRIMES SHE COMMITTED IN FULL VIEW OF EVERYONE

AA gray tabby known to residents as Mittens was found guilty early Thursday on all counts of knocking a full glass of water off the kitchen counter, an act she carried out slowly, deliberately, and while making direct eye contact with three separate witnesses.

The verdict came within moments of the incident, which one witness described as "the least subtle thing I have seen a living creature do."

According to a spokesperson for the household, Mittens approached the glass at approximately 6:03 A.M., extended a single paw, and paused. "She looked right at me," the spokesperson said. "She looked at the glass. She looked back at me. Then she pushed it. There was no ambiguity. There was no reasonable doubt."

The glass fell. Water went everywhere. A phone charger was, sources confirmed, "involved."

Despite the overwhelming evidence, the defendant has continued to insist she was asleep on the windowsill at the time and knows nothing about any glass. She reportedly repeated this claim while sitting in the exact puddle in question, licking one paw with what observers called "an unsettling calm."

Investigators noted this was not a first offense. Mittens has an extensive record including the March potted-plant excavation, the recurring 4 A.M. sprint incidents, and a still-unsolved case involving a sock that was retrieved from inside the refrigerator.

"We keep hoping she'll show remorse," the spokesperson said. "She has never once shown remorse. I don't think she knows what it is."

Asked whether any consequences would follow, the household confirmed that Mittens was immediately given breakfast, several chin scratches, and told she was a good girl. "We're aware that undermines the whole justice system," the spokesperson admitted. "She has us completely."

At press time, Mittens had relocated to a sunbeam and was refusing further comment. A second glass of water sat, unattended, on the counter.
